4 June- 1000m Mytischi
I really like these races and the organiziers are top notch! I managed a win and faster than last year by a good 7 seconds. I was supposed to run the rock and roll 5k in Marino on May 31, but due to a Turkish Airlines fuckup, I missed it by a few hours. Came in the night of 30-31 May and was supposed to be in the day before.
7 June Volokolamsk Half- 4th overall 1st masters
This was hot and hilly. Hilly I do, hot I do not so went out sane and picked off people as I went. The organizers get a top notch rating for having water on the course and it was overall well organized. I regret not going out to this one last year. Arctic Valley was cancelled this yr and its future is in question, so my legs were not still recovering from a mountain race that would have been on the same day. I used to lollygag in Anchorage and leave after Arctic Valley first weekend in June. I may just make Volokolamsk a habit now instead.
19 June- mile and 1000m at Medik Stadium
Great opportunity do get some speedwork in
I won the mile and 1000m after recovering from that half. After the half, weather has been very Alaskan with some days not even hitting 20C so not complaining.
