21 June- Viktor Tsoi 10k
I ran the Sektor Gaza Half last July and like this organizer too. They do a great job. I went with the 10k instead this time because Moscow Masters Championships were a week later and I needed recovered legs for that and used this as a tempo run for that. Thhe rock and roll races are now in Marino which is still only 15-20 min from me so easy to get to. GPS was really blocked that day because .... birds- yeh when Ukrainian drones aka "birds" fly and air defense has to do its thing- GPS gets scrambed. Sometimes internet and cell servise does too for a few hours. There are also parts of the city closer to the center that are scrambled now too so the birds don't become an issue. My watch showed 8.5 km and could not register my actual pace. It kept showing about 5min/km which I knew was way off. I only knew my pace when I hit each turnatound and ran surprisingly evenly despite the bird issue. I managed a win here too :)
28-29 June Moscow Masters Championships
1500 Day 1 1st place 3000m day 2 first place- and moved into the 50-54 category ouch!
My times were the best they have been here at Moscow Campionships in several years even better than 2023 because for the first time in all the years I have competed on this track in the summer (20 years or so) it was not hot as holy hell.
